Menorca: The challenge of purity in the Mediterranean
Menorca: The challenge of purity in the Mediterranean.
Menorca faces one of Spain's most complex water management challenges: nitrate levels that often exceed 50mg/L due to agricultural runoff into the aquifer. An island declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where water slowly flows through layers of limestone and clay — and where UNNA Pure was born.
The Problem
Nitrates in drinking water are not unique to any one region. They are a direct consequence of decades of intensive agriculture, livestock farming, and fertilizer use across Europe. According to the European Environment Agency, more than 28% of groundwater monitoring stations in the EU exceed or are close to the recommended 50 mg/L limit set by the WHO.
In Menorca, critical levels can reach 75mg/L — well above the safe threshold. Standard municipal treatment does not always effectively remove these contaminants.
The Universal Solution: Tested in the most demanding environments.
We use Menorca as our testing standard because its nitrate levels (75mg/L) are among the highest in Europe. If UNNA Pure offers total purity here, it offers absolute safety in any city on the continent.
Ion Exchange Resin
Our specific technology is capable of reducing critical nitrate levels of up to 75mg/L by 99%. NSF/ANSI and SGS certified.
Respect for Balearic Magnesium
Unlike osmosis, UNNA Pure removes nitrates but retains the natural Magnesium and Calcium from the island's water, essential for balanced hydration. Menorca's water has a unique mineral richness — we preserve it.
Broad-Spectrum Filtration
- Total Barrier — Certified removal of microplastics, heavy metals (Lead, Mercury, Arsenic), chlorine, pesticides, and drug residues.
- Bacteriological Protection — The high-density activated carbon block acts as a trap for sediments and cysts, eliminating 99.9% of organic impurities.
- Living Water — No electricity, no water waste, and preserving natural electrolytes: Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium.
Nitrates: A Europe-Wide Problem
Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland — no country is immune. Rural and peri-urban areas across Europe contend with high nitrate levels that standard municipal treatment does not always effectively remove.
The health effects are documented: increased risk for infants, pregnant women, and people with digestive pathologies. Chronic exposure to moderate levels is also being studied in relation to thyroid disorders and other systemic effects.
Technology designed in Menorca for homes across Europe.
UNNA Pure is born from a commitment to the preservation of Menorca, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993.
